Barry Nugent - Home

I have over forty years experience as a firefighter, with leadership roles at the executive level, in the Los Angeles County Fire Department, and in church executive leadership roles.  My concepts on servant-leadership have been developed and refined by practice, experience, and scholarly inquiry broadening my understanding  of servant-Leadership. Relying upon my experience as an Assistant Fire Chief, over a geographical Division, incorporating  nine south-land cities and Catalina Island, and also gleaned as a church Lead Elder, requiring oversight and interactions with volunteers, I have developed a unique leadership philosophy.  Coupled with informed scholarly inquiry, garnered while earning a Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University, my understanding of practical servant-leadership guides the instruction. The principles are not theoretical, rather they are practical and have been generationally transferred to a son in the fire service.
